last friday of 2006

today is the last friday of 2006. makes me wanna look back at the year and do some erm gasp...reflection.

looked at my old blog and realised that THIS is my last entry written last year. in addition, i realised that i did not write any new year resolutions last year, which is probably good because i need not go through them one by one and feel really guilty for not fulfilling most of them.

very glad to get into hwa chong junior college and met this very fantastic class 06s65! needless to say, with both river valley prom king rongkang and prom queen mingming in my class how can it be not fantastic? hehe. will never forget the fun and laughter we have for the first three months and of course that hilarous campfire night performance and those occasional stay over nights at michelle's house. my senior class 05s65 are a bunch of friendly people too. never failed to answer my queries about school work and have a really nice time chatting with some of them before and after school at the class bench everyday. come to think of it, it is weird being seniors next year and i would probably kind of miss my senior class. the teachers teaching our class are great too, especially ever-caring mr pang and funny miss jacqueline yeo.

joined hwa chong taekwondo probably out of sudden interest and also i got quite bored playing flute for so long and decided to venture out to try something new! turned out to be a pretty smart choice for me. learnt quite alot from the club and met some fantastic new friends like hunky shen yang, sexy yushu, suave jonathan and a whole lot of others. of course, catching up with junquan my ex classmate in sec 1 and 2 but we kind of lost in touch in sec 3 and 4! haha.

not to forgot i was approached to act in the artemis national musical. was a very refreshing experience for me because i have not perform really huge roles on stage before except for some solo singing at my kindergarden graduation ceremony which i screwed up really badly haha. the whole process was caught on video tape but unfortunately my dad accidentally deleted all the scenes away from the video tape ):. was glad that the musical received many positive comments because i did not have any confidence at all performing on stage. moreover got to know hyper active god sis pamela through the musical and the rest of the very friendly fac com people!

this year was kind of a slacky year for me. did alot of last minute tutorials in school and last minute studying sessions in the reading room during the examination periods where i also get to know a whole lot of other great hwachong friends like wenqi (will never forget that climbing fence incident LOL), idol zhiyong, mr bean bing cheng, di shui sheng hui among others.

my class has got two good basketball team players rongkang and yeowlin and through them i also got to know one of my favourite bloggers (lol i make him sound like a professional blogger) mr nice billy and my charismatic big brother jeremy ! haha.

the new zealand and sydney trip at the end of november with my family is also probably one of the highlights. spend some real quality time with my family members and bonded through the many mishaps that happened on the trip such as the baggage and flight delays. felt really fortunate that i get to go on trips like this to widen my general knowledge about the world. thanks to my great parents who work hard to earn money to sponsor me for these trips! would not forget to repay them in the future :).

okay it suddenly hit me that this is more like a very BORING entry about all the nice people i met this year instead of a reflection of what i did this year. never mind about that, i shall set my new year resolutions for next year now.

1) have more confidence in myself
2) stand up for myself and not to be so forgiving if i know i am right (thanks to shen yang who inspired me to note this down today haha)
3) work hard and play hard
4) improve on my english standard which is really bad

okay done. i am not a very task orientated person who like to write things down and constantly remind myself i must do this or that. basically i just go along with the flow so yea just some simple general resolutions that stop at number 4 which also happen to be my lucky number.

look at those stripes at the right. they are scotch tape that i pasted halfway for the whole wall. in a dilemma whether i should create a "wallpaper" effect by painting this whole wall with that stripy pattern. it requires alot of effort so must consider carefully first before starting to paint it. comments?

christmas eve!

it is 12:37 AM now the beginning of christmas eve this year! spend the whole of today (or rather yesterday) rushing farewell gifts for liu xin and miss jacqueline yeo for the farewell party that is going on later today in the afternoon. my room is still in a mess with all the scrap paper and styrofoam bits and the gifts are still not ready yet! sigh i guess it is usual for me to be doing this kind of last minute work.

the painters are coming to my house today to give my house a new look. so basically i would be having a mini room makeover on christmas eve how cool is that!

not to forget it is also dorea chin's birthday today. it is special to have your birthday falling on christmas eve isn't it?





thanks for tolerating my nonsensical screams and singings on the phone. i am sure you would have a great year ahead and continue to shine with your ever kind, patient, encouraging and caring personality! you have been a great pal!

obscene names

went town yesterday with my aunt jane, uncle kelvin and my cousins yanying and yangzhi to choose their new piano and for some last minute christmas shopping. went takashimaya children's section on the third level and it was fully packed with people obviously doing their last minute christmas shopping too. yangzhi wanted to get a new lego set as his christmas present but takashimaya doesn't really sell much of lego products. so we went to a lego shop at paragon where yanying was having her sociolio correction therapy. after much deliberation we had initially decided to get this:











which is really nice! but it cost a whopping 259 bucks which my uncle thought wasn't too worth the price. so eventually we went to toys "r" us instead and got a game cd-rom instead.

was caught in a massive jam on our way to plaza singapura's yamaha. we spent the time trying to call into carrie chong's radio show with our handphones while waiting in the car but to no avail.

went to yamaha and tried out this upright standing grand piano (model: U5) which they were planning to invest in. after which we tried another baby grand piano which cost $13,900, a thousand bucks less than the upright grand piano. consulted our piano teacher and she told us that it is still more worthy to get a upright grand piano. the salesperson played a couple of pieces on that piano for us to hear and indeed it has got a very clear and rich tone texture. probably one of the best upright pianos in the market!















while we were testing out the piano yanying told my aunt she wanted to learn the rock guitar and that was when something hilarious happened.

background information: there was a period when yanying and me like to imitate the bimbotic, irritating and lame antics shown in "Mean Girls" having watched it at least thrice. most importantly, there is a very prominent character call "Regina George" in the movie, who was, in my opnion, the scripted version of paris hilton lol.

okay as i was saying yanying told my aunt that she wanted to learn rock guitar next year and she replied "what rock guitar. next year PSLE already...once in a life time, don't still whole day VAGINA george here VAGINA george there." in the yamaha piano showroom. obviously we burst out laughing. LOL. i cannot believe anyone would want to name themselves "vagina". the thought of my name being "penis ng" send chills down my spine.

had a rather late dinner at manhattan fish market. ordered lobster seafood platter, seafood platter, soups, grilled fish and drinks. got rather sick of all the fried food after a while and we couldn't really finish all the food.

went home after touring around town to look at the christmas lightnings in the car despite the heavy traffic there. rather impressive, gives one an imperial glittery gold feel. don't know why, the sight just reminded me of the new epic "the curse of the golden flower".

just heard that my gp teacher miss jaqueline yeo is leaving the school next year two days ago. to think that i am really looking forward to her gp lessons next year! would definitely miss her funny antics and slacky gp lessons! nevertheless guess it is time for her to "move on" to ACSI and wish her a very successful teaching career there.

i shall resolve to do more homework today than the total amount of work i have done for the holidays so far, which is not a very difficult task to fulfill.

shall try to call carrie chong tonight to wish everyone a very merry christmas!

human reaction time error

recently my family keep saying that i am 迟钝 and always take very long to reply or totally ignored them when they ask me questions or call my name. for example, my mom has been complaining how she needs to repeat my name at least thrice before i would respond. the problem is i am probably thinking about something else or something like that, i don't know that she have called me thrice already! i only heard her the last time she calls my name "yichun!!! (with a very irritated tone)". so i am very used to hearing my name "YICHUN!!!" said with much angst at an above-average volume. i think i am really blur. i threw my underwear in the dustbin at home and ate food with moss and fungus on it. i place a can of coke in the freezer and it exploded and got my parents fuming mad.

this morning went for a rather informal taekwondo training session and told shenyang and junquan about this problem. they laughed and said indeed sometimes i totally "dao" them when they talked to me or took a long time to react to what they were saying. sigh.

so if you talk to me next time and i don't reply please forgive me it isn't deliberate. i think my parents are right; i am probably slightly 迟钝.

jonathan and yushu told me to bring along my camera for taekwondo today. so i brought and we just took alot of random pictures and sort of photo-whored lol.



they asked me to raise my finger to form the word "PIMP". don't know what it is for though haha.

haha i just called into 987 FM AGAIN! oh my cannot believe i am so lucky. have been calling in so many times lol. today was "sing-for-your-request-monday" in which we are supposed to sing part of the song we wanted to dedicate. initially i wanted to sing "irreplaceable" by beyonce but she played the song earlier so i could not request for that song and have to settle for "welcome to the black parade" AGAIN lol. i sang the first part super horribly and qingsheng immediately sms-ed me to tell me that he was laughing his ass off when he heard it.

in conclusion, i hope i would be less 迟钝 in the future.

amazing!

just caught the latest episode of The Amazing Race Asia on youtube in which the singapore team sharon and melody got eliminated. quite sad actually especially after melody actually overcame her fear to take the bungee jump. hats off to her! i would NEVER try bungee jumping...the thought itself is scary enough. coincidentally the teams went to south island, new zealand from i have just gone for a holiday. took a look from the bungge jumping platform and it was so high and scary enough, not to mention actually jumping from it. speaking of new zealand south island i decided to showoff a few pictures of the beautiful place here. it would be a pity not to "broadcast" those pictures since i have already uploaded them onto the internet ;).

happy birthday to my computer!

ok lame title but then my computer is seriously freaking me out! i just wrote this entry about how lousy my computer is and this morning while i had almost completed typing this entry my computer just hang again. and just now my computer hanged three times for the short half an hour that i have used it. oh no i better save this entry after i have type every paragraph which is very laborious...but what to do!!! my computer is dangerously unstable and i used it with a constant fear of it hanging. the moment it hangs it is like a thunder has struck my computer everything froze and then gone forever. i really need a new computer!

yesterday i called through 987 FM again for the second time this week on Say It With Music and forgot to wish carrie chong happy birthday since it is her birthday today. was planning to try my luck to call in during her show now but unfortunately she wasn't hosting the show today. she has probably gone to celebrate her 30th birthday!

haha talking about carrie chong it seems like just yesterday when i was in primary school and i tuned in to her every day when i came back from school during lunch time. back then she was hosting this afternoon lunch show on 987 FM. after which i would tune into jamie yeo's Say It With Music (it used to be her show but she left the radio station which is quite saddening ):). after listening to carrie and requesting songs on her show for so long, she has sorta become my "invisible friend" lol. so yea gonna wish a celebrity happy birthday for the first time on my blog.

okay my computer just hanged another TWO TIMES while i tried to upload this carrie chong picture. luckily i have saved a draft just after i typed the "happy birthday carrie chong!".

yesterday was chuan han's birthday but then think she should be having lots of fun now in taiwan under the taiwan immersion programme. don't think she would see this but nevertheless...

haha know her since primary 5 (wow almost as long as i have been tuning in to carrie chong lol) and think she is a really helpful and good friend! thanks for all the encouragement during the o levels and prelims period! may we have a stress-free year ahead in hwahcong next year (though highly unlikely haha) !

9 days to christmas (in 10 more minutes it would be 8 days) and i have finally started on like 2% of my holiday homework! sighhhh i foresee mugging days ahead during this festive season thanks to my procrastinations as usual lol. it is always holiday SEASON homework for me lol. and also due to my procrastinations i have not finished doing my christmas gifts for my friends yet...the gifts are cool but they seriously need alot of hardwork to make yeah that's why the procrastinations.

this the season to be jolly...fahlalalalalalalala...

needs or wants?

okay great my computer just hanged halfway while i was typing this entry about how terrible my computer is, perhaps to give me another reason to re-type this entry with more evidence of the inefficiency of this computer.

first of all, sorry but i decided not to update on the new zealand trip anymore since i have uploaded the pictures and the pictures themselves would speak for the trip if you are interested. (actually to be frank i am too lazy to tranfer the pictures from photobucket to blogger one by one and painstakingly copying and pasting the numerous URLs and rearraging the photographs by dragging down on the blogger posting interface which is seriously a very laborious job plus the fact that trip is already quite outdated. photobucket used to have this function whereby one can blog numerious photographs from their site at one go without the need to copy and paste the URLs to the blogger posting interface but now they seemed to have scrape away with this function or is it that i am not familar with the new photobucket...anyone please advise?)

currently i have two items on my mind that i really wish that i have in possession:

1) a new computer
okay although i have got three computers at home now the so-called newest and most efficient computer is always occupied by my dad for games (sigh), the second newest computer is always used by my sister and i have to settle for this really old and cranky computer which takes approximately five minutes to start up and may hang at any moment at countless occasions (including just now). quite sick of having to use this computer with this constant impending fear of it hanging while blogging, chatting, surfing and simply just typing a project report on microsoft word. that is also the reason why you always see me popping in and out of msn at the bottom right hand side of your monitor like an irritant. according to this sticker pasted on this HP Pavilion 8612 CPU that i am using now, it says there that it has got "64MB 100 MHz SDRAM". don't really know what that means because i am not quite a techwhiz but i think it simply means that this computer is in a really bad status. the monitor is so bad it makes the pictures taken from our 7.0 megapixels camera look distorted and foggy. plus i have a feeling it may just crash any moment and i may lose all my precious files that i have no choice but to save in this computer (since i have to use this computer everytime, duh). so i think i really need a new computer.

2) a comfortable sofa / bean-bag
i like to study or read sitting on the sofa. however, my mom recently brought in this sofa from my aunt's old house and discarded away the old sofa that has got scratches and tears on it. this sofa is probably the most uncomfortable place to sit on. while sitting on the sofa, the curvature ot the sofa would force one to lean forward the upper part of the body (the area around the shoulders and neck) which is really uncomfortable and gives me the "vomitting" sensation everytime i sat on it. so i avoided sitting on it and hope that we would have a more comfortable new sofa or just a comfortable sofa chair in my room where i could sit to study or read...or simply a bean-bag which would also be like a thousand times more comfortable than the sofa in the living room now.

i didn't dare to tell my parents about these request, if not they would go into this hysterical WE-NEED-TO-SAVE-MONEY frenzy. some of my aunties said i am a squanderer but i don' think so. how can i be one when i request to go to foodcourts everytime i go out with my friends when they intended to visit some more expensive restaurants and complain everytime when they go to swensens, NYDC etc. i was even labelled as STINGY by my friends not long ago. i understand the need to save money but i don't think it is fair that they said i spent money mindlessly. i know earning money is a difficult task and that i am from an average family but i don't think that i am a squander. or am i?

sigh i think these items would only appear in my dreams...

christmas is coming soon which means the school is starting in no time and i have not really start on any school work at all and my english is still as bad.

New Zealand Trip (Part 1)

WARNING: LONG ENTRY AHEAD. GRAB YOUR FAVOURITE SANDWICH AND A CUP OF TEA WHILE YOU MARVEL AT THE BEAUTIFUL PICTURES. :)

i supposed the trip to new zealand can only be retold via pictures to showcase the beauty of one of the most unpolluted countries in the world. so yeah this post would be pretty much like aphotolog. by the way sorry for the delay in post, because i took about 1500 pictures and have had a really difficult time just to choose and upload these pictures haha.

went on this vacation with my mom, sister, cousins (yanying, yanying's younger brother yangzhi and shunxiang), aunt jane and uncle kelvin plus my grandparents. so we pretty much booked a bus and our driver-cum-tour-guide brought us around new zealand on the bus throughout the trip.

Day 1 / 2

the flight to new zealand wasn't a peaceful one at all. was supposed to fly to sydney and wait for 3 hours before taking another connect flight to new zealand.

taking off from singapore to sydney during sunset...





due to bad weather, our flight made a detour to melbourne instead first and we had to wait for two hours before re-boarding the flight to sydney.

so i slept at melbourne airport and my sister caught me rubbing my blocked nose...




flew to sydney and was told that our supposed connected flight have already flown off and we would need to wait for about another 6 hours before the next flight to christchurch, new zealand.

so what did we do? of course we ate our lunch at sydney airport...before sleeping again.



got so bored sleeping i went to the children's playground there with my cousins. pretty much like those children adventure centres that i used to go to and i was banned there because i was taller than their restricted height but i went in anyway since there was no one at the playground haha. forgot to bring a book along with me on my hand-held baggage to kill time! my cousin was like laughing away...pretty funny yea college one still climbing these kind of things. come to think of it it was quite a same but i guessed boredom induces people to do the craziest things :P.




got so bored i asked my cousins to do crazy faces while i photographed them with my camera haha.



after a hair-rising journey via air new zealand airplane (the plane met with a blizzard and it was pretty much like a scary roller coaster ride on the way to christchurch and i got pretty scared on board), we finally arrived at christchurch at an ungodly hour of 12 midnight only to find that our luggage didn't come together with the plane...



waited for another 2 hours while my aunt and uncle went to enquire about our lost luggage.



the luggage arrived only three days later and because of this i wore the same clothes for three days and survived on the very pathetic river valley concert band jacket that i brought along onto the plane.

checked into our first accommodation Holiday Inn at 1am!

back!



YEAY!

savely back from new zealand and sydney yesterday night. it was one hell of a trip. experienced flight delays, living without my luggage for three days, snowing, hailstones, customs interrogation, saw lots of sheeps and cows at one go which is more than the population of singapore, really really strong winds at milford sound...and lots more.

details when i upload the pictures! stay tuned. :)

just got reminded that i lost my aunt's red jacket by leaving it on the airplane. losing things ain't fun, especially when i tried to be extra careful to make sure that i do not leave things behind but still not careful enough and had to leave a red jacket at the end of the trip. my mom just called the airlines to check if they can retrieve the jacket. think it is highly unlikely but i am keeping my fingers crossed. losing things sucks, don't know why i keep losing things...like i lost my files 5 times last year just to illustrate the point and ended up reprinted worksheets and notes 5 times. okay hope i would not lose anything anymore next year.
